The Dolmen Tomb – Area 10: Altar Room

In the outer corridor (area 10a), a DC 18 (Perception) check spots the telltale seams of a secret panel on the south wall. The panel pushes inward, revealing a passage beyond. Dim light flickers from around the bend.

Inside the octagonal chamber, a 3 ft. high conical pedestal (4 ft. diam. base, 3 ft. diam. top) stands in the center. A Continual Flame burns in an indentation in the pedestal’s top. A rotting wicker trunk rests against the east wall. The room is filled with a faint pine scent.

  • Wicker Trunk. The thin-walled chest contains rotten linen robes, a bronze censer on a 3-ft. long bronze chain, the remains of crumbled incense blocks wrapped in waxed paper, and a wooden box filled with (12) green votive candles. When a candle is lit with a mundane flame, it gives off a mild pine scent; if lit with the altar flame, however, it gives off a strong scent.
